Cardinals Club & Summer Program

Program Overview

Cardinals Club:

Children currently enrolled or who have completed Kindergarten through age 12 are eligible for enrollment in our After School Program and the Cardinals Summer Program.  Our on-site program is licensed through the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE).  KDHE requires specific paperwork to be completed for each child enrolled in any licensed childcare program.  Required paperwork will be sent to families prior to their child's first day.  All paperwork must be on file and correctly completed before children can attend their first day. Please see below for specific program details.  Enrollment for the After School Program and Cardinals Summer Program will begin in early spring.

After School Program: For the 2023-2024 school year, our program will provide after school care Monday-Friday from 2:45pm-5:45pm.  The first day of ASP will be Thursday, August 17, 2023, and the last day of care for ASP will be Tuesday, May 14, 2024.  ASP will not operate on the first day of school and the last day of school as they are half-days.  We will provide full-day care on select days when school is not in session. Full-Day hours will be 7:15am-5:45pm. Our program does not operate during Spring Break and other major holidays and holy days. A list of days care will be provided will be distributed to families before the beginning of the academic school year.

More information regarding the 2024-2025 school year will be available at a later date.  Enrollment will begin for MCS families on Friday, February 16th.  Enrollment for the Manhattan Community will begin Friday, March 1st.

While children are in our care, they are provided with a snack, offered assistance with homework, and provided with outdoor play, weather permitting.  On days full-day care is provided, each child will need a sack lunch as our school cafeteria is also closed.  If any trips are scheduled throughout the year, parents will be required to sign a permission slip form before a child can attend any off-premises trip.  Any activity fee for scheduled trips throughout the year will be included in tuition.  The tuition for 2023-2024 school year is an additional $200/month.

Cardinals Summer Program:  The Cardinals Summer Program is designed for school-aged children.  Children must have completed Kindergarten to enroll for the summer.

Our goal is for children to have fun! Throughout the summer, children will have a variety of activities planned to provide both indoor and outdoor play. Our summer days will consist of partnering with Colbert Hills for First Tee, swimming at our local pools, trips to the zoo (Sunset, Topeka and Rolling Hills Zoo), watching movies at the theater (depending on movies released in the summer), visits to museums (Flint Hills Discovery Center, K-State Beach Museum of Art, Topeka Discover Center), and trips to local parks and trails.  Children will also participate in the Summer Reading Challenge with Manhattan Public Library.  We will visit the library once a week to check-out books.  Each child will need to bring a library card to keep on-site for our visits.  Classroom teachers will be responsible for keeping track of minutes read throughout the summer.

Children are transported everywhere in our 14-passenger school buses, that are driven by staff.  Staff must complete the driving curriculum for transporting children required by the Salina Diocese prior to driving. For out of town trips, we will use USD 383 buses when possible.

The last few years we have utilized the free summer lunch program offered through USD 383.  We will continue to utilize this option for as long as it is offered.
